Arrival in Lahnstein
Take enough time to explore the historic center of Lahnstein. Make a detour to the castle Lahneck which watches high above Lahnstein. From here you have an incomparable view over the Lahn and Rhine valley.
Lahnstein – Diez 50 km
In the morning you start your bike tour in Lahnstein through the idyllic Lahn valley. Right at the beginning of your bike tour you will pass the historic inn on the Lahn where Goethe dined. In Bad Ems, an old spa town, which was already very popular with the Russian tsars, you will make your first stop. Afterwards you cycle on towards Dausenau, a tranquil village on the banks of the Lahn. Your bike tour continues via Nassau to Laurenburg.
Here it is best to take the train to Balduinstein to save yourself the steep 2.5 km climb. The cycle path along the Lahn will be completed at the end of the year, so there is no need to climb up or take the train. From Balduinstein the cycle path is well developed again and mostly flat.
In Diez, sights such as the baroque Oranienstein Castle, the Count’s Castle of Diez, Schaumburg Castle, Laurenburg Castle or the winding alleys of the old town of Diez invite you to linger.

Diez – Weilburg 50 km
After breakfast you cycle only a few kilometers to Limburg You already have the famous Limburg Cathedral firmly in view. Once in Limburg, you will be enchanted by the charming old town with its stylishly restored half-timbered houses. The tour continues via romantic Runkel, the town of castles and palaces, to Weilburg.
Weilburg – Wetzlar 40 km
On the rocky ridge of the Lahn lies the baroque residential town of Weilburg. The castle and the baroque marketplace are worth seeing. The mining museum is also highly recommended. Afterwards you cycle on via Braunfels and Solms to Wetzlar.
Marburg - to the river source 69 km
Visit the Elisabeth Church, take the elevator to the upper town of Marburg or marvel at the Landgrave’s Castle above.
In the afternoon, your bike tour will come to an end. The German Federal Railways will take you back to the rental station in Lahnstein. Of course, you also have the option to continue your bike tour to Bad Laasphe.
