Moselle Bike Tour from Trier to Koblenz or Koblenz to Trier

Marvel at the Imperial Baths or the Porta Nigra in the Roman city of Trier. Discover the many famous wine villages with picturesque half-timbered houses and narrow streets. Explore the castles on the right and left of the Moselle and end the day with a fine drop of wine.

The bike path from Trier to Koblenz is well developed and runs mostly on flat terrain.

Since there are almost no climbs, the Moselradweg is easy to ride in both directions.

The following stages are only tour recommendations. You can choose the stages freely. From Trier to Koblenz you need about 5 days.

Arrival in Trier

Plan enough time to visit the oldest city in Germany. The Imperial Baths and the Porta Nigra are a must. Use the rest of the day for a leisurely stroll through the city.

Trier – Trittenheim 45 km

After just a few kilometers, you will find yourself in the middle of the wine-growing region. You can take a break in the small village of Schweich at the old ferry tower. You should not miss a visit to the Villa Rustica in Mehring. In Trittenheim, a wine trail informs you about the work of the winegrowers and the local grape varieties.

Traben-Trabach

Trittenheim – Zeltingen 35 km

Along the Trittenheimer Moselschleife you cycle to the oldest wine village in Germany, Neumagen-Dhron. Here a Roman stone relief shows the famous wine ship. Your lunch break is best enjoyed on the market square of Bernkastel-Kues. Further on we recommend a leisurely walk through the beautiful wine village. Afterwards it is only a few kilometers to Zeltingen.

Zeltingen – Zell 40 km

Numerous vineyards and Moselle bends line your path today. Taste a glass of the world-famous Kröver Nacktarsch in Traben-Trabach and treat yourself to a ride on a Moselle boat. After a break in Enkirch, you will reach Zell.

Zell – Treis Karden 45 km

Continue in the direction of Treis Karden. You should definitely pay a visit to the Reichsburg near Cochen. The medieval town of Cochem offers many sights and invites you to linger. It is then only a stone’s throw to Treis Karden.

Treis Karden – Koblenz 45 km

A detour to Elz Castle near Moselkern is the highlight of your bike tour . During a guided tour of the castle you will learn many interesting facts about the knights and life in the Middle Ages. In Koblenz, the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine, there is a beautiful beer garden right next to the Deutsches Eck with a view of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. From here it is only a few hundred meters to your hotel or to our bike rental in Lahnstein. There is also the possibility to return the bikes or eBikes at the main station in Koblenz.
