Rhine cycling tour on the Middle Rhine
Cycle through the World Heritage Site “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”. Explore stately castles and rustic fortresses. Enjoy the unique nature in the Rhine Valley. Discover the many famous wine villages with picturesque half-timbered houses and narrow streets. Explore the castles to the right and left of the Rhine and end the day with a fine drop of wine.
The bike path is mostly well developed and runs mostly on flat terrain.
Arrival in Koblenz
Plan enough time for a stroll through the old town of Koblenz. Make a detour to the “Deutsches Eck” where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. Enjoy the view of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress from there or take the cable car up to the fortress. From there you have a fantastic view over Koblenz.
Koblenz – St- Goar 40 km
In the morning you start your bike tour in Koblenz. In Rhens you will have an incomparably beautiful view of Marksburg Castle in Braubach. The ride continues to Boppard. The town is famous for its wine and has a very beautiful old town. With the chair lift you have the possibility to get to the Vierseenblick and have a bird’s eye view of the Rhine bend. After this incomparably beautiful view you cycle on to St. Goar.

St. Goar – Rüdesheim 29 km
From St. Goar you have a great view of the Loreley. The legendary rock in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. In St. Goar you can visit the castle Rheinfels. The castle with its many corridors and tunnels is one of the most interesting on the Middle Rhine. Afterwards you cycle on to Bacharach. The town is adorned with many charming half-timbered houses, cozy alleys with quaint wine taverns and inviting cafes.
After your lunch break you continue to Bingen. Here you will cross the Rhine to Rüdesheim.
After you have checked into your hotel, you can take a stroll through the famous Drosselgasse.

Today you cycle to the romantic town of Etville on the Rhine. The townscape is characterized by its many, very well preserved half-timbered houses. From the center of Eltville it is only a few kilometers to Eberbach Monastery.
The monastery with its former Cistercian abbey is one of the most important cultural monuments in Hessen. The monastery gained fame in 1986 as the location for the filming of the world bestseller “The Name of the Rose” by Umberto Eco. However, the road to the monastery leads steadily uphill, so we recommend this stage only to experienced cyclists.
